Young Africans preparing for the digital economy

Preparing Learners for the Digital Economy

AYT prepares young Africans for the future of work by introducing them to high-demand skills in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data, innovation, and career readiness.

Across Africa, young people are full of potential, creativity, and ambition. However, many learners do not have access to practical digital skills, mentorship, and real-world experience needed to compete in today’s technology-driven economy. Africa Young Techies bridges this gap by creating learning pathways that connect youth to skills, confidence, and opportunity.

Through the Youth Skills Program, learners are introduced to artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics, digital tools, innovation, entrepreneurship, and career readiness. The program moves learners beyond theory through practice, projects, collaboration, and real-world problem solving.

Why This Matters

The digital economy is creating new opportunities, but young people need more than knowledge to participate. They need mentorship, hands-on practice, portfolios, employer exposure, and clear pathways into internships, apprenticeships, entrepreneurship, and employment.

What Learners Gain

  • Exposure to AI, cybersecurity, data, and innovation pathways
  • Hands-on learning through practical projects and activities
  • Mentorship from professionals and role models
  • Portfolio-building experience to demonstrate their skills
  • Career readiness support for internships and apprenticeships
  • Confidence to pursue digital careers and entrepreneurship

The goal is to create a pathway where young people do not only learn skills, but also build portfolios, access opportunities, and prepare for internships, apprenticeships, and employment.
