Terms

Acceptance of any contribution, gift, or grant is at the discretion of Africa Young Techies (AYT). AYT accepts donations only when they can be used consistently with its mission to expand access to digital literacy, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, innovation, and career pathways for young people across Africa.

No irrevocable gift, whether outright or life-income in character, will be accepted if under any reasonable set of circumstances the gift would jeopardize the donor's financial security. AYT will refrain from providing advice about the tax or other treatment of gifts and will encourage donors to seek guidance from their own professional advisers to assist them in the process of making their donation.

AYT will accept donations of cash or publicly traded securities. Gifts of in-kind services will be accepted at the discretion of AYT.

Certain other gifts — real property, personal property, in-kind gifts, non-liquid securities, and contributions whose sources are not transparent or whose use is restricted in some manner — must be reviewed prior to acceptance due to the special obligations raised or liabilities they may pose for AYT.

AYT will provide acknowledgments to donors meeting tax requirements for property received by the organization as a gift. However, except for gifts of cash and publicly traded securities, no value shall be ascribed to any receipt or other form of substantiation of a gift received by AYT.

Global Mentorship Exchange

AYT’s Global Mentorship Exchange connects experienced professionals with young African learners for practical guidance, confidence building, digital-career exposure, and professional development.

Why Mentorship Matters

Many learners can access information but have limited access to people who can explain career pathways, review goals, share professional lessons, and help connect learning to realistic next steps.

How the Exchange Works

1. Register and match: AYT reviews interests, goals, relevant experience, availability, and safeguarding considerations.
2. Guided conversation: Approved participants use structured prompts to discuss learning, careers, confidence, and next steps.
3. Career direction: Learners may receive practical feedback on skills, portfolios, professional communication, and opportunities.
4. Continued pathways: Where appropriate and available, participants may join group mentoring, technical sessions, career coaching, or communities of practice.

Strategic 2030 Targets — Not Current Results

AYT aims to expand its global mentor network and connect more learners with structured guidance by 2030. Any numerical ambitions published for mentors, matches, coaching participation, or internships are forward-looking targets, not completed results or guaranteed placements.

Ask career questions, build confidence, and explore responsible digital-learning and professional pathways.

Support safe coordination, mentor recruitment, learning resources, career readiness, and access to appropriate professional networks.
